Created to help take the guesswork out of gardening – enabling the home gardener to grow meaningful quantities of organic quality food easier than they ever thought possible. The Honeycomb Hydro-Soil Garden System was designed to grow traditionally in soil or using hydroponic technology.

the family garden 2.0

The Honeycomb Garden System can be a “Victory Garden” experience for people of any age or experience level, who have chosen to reduce food travel from thousands of miles to just steps from the kitchen.

The Problems

  • Many people are physically unable to move up and down to work on their knees when gardening at ground level.
  • Many unknowingly work in soil that is contaminated or has a high clay content.
  • Frequent manual watering leads to excessive evaporation, infrequent watering leads to plant stress.
  • Plants at ground level are more vulnerable to ground-borne invaders who are always looking for a meal.
  • Many people new to gardening want more technology and fewer tools, especially power tools.

The Solution

An eco-friendly system of raised planters produced from repurposed plastics arranged by the user to fit in numerous configurations in any space

  • Water-saving subsurface irrigation is included. With an optional water timer, hydrometer, thermometer, plant food applicator and a high frequency electronic scarecrow. All can be controlled by a smart phone app.
  • With its trapezoid shape allowing numerous configurations, the Honeycomb Hydro-Soil Garden System enables you to match your garden size to your available space.
  • In a field of competitors where most raised gardens are made of wood, the Honeycomb system offers an advanced design manufactured from repurposed plastic, easy to assemble with no tools required.
  • If you move, it’s easy to disassemble and relocate making this your forever garden system.

honeycomb hydro-soil garden system is unique

It’s more than a garden. With a multi-cluster configuration fitted with a sun shade cover and party lights, it creates an outdoor family room. Your garden will offer a place to entertain and relax, while growing meaningful quantities of organic quality food. A great way to enjoy time away from the office, video games, internet and TV.

quick and easy set-up

If you can lift a bag of soil, you can assemble the garden in minutes…with no tools.

Unassembled System
Lift Top Unit Out
Flip Top Unit
Position & Stack Unit in the Desired Location
Assemble Hydroponic or Watering System
Place Drainage Pipe in Side of Unit
Water supply is added to the system with Easy Snap-On Connectors
Hook System up to a Water Source or to the next Unit
Fill Unit in Preparation for Planting

With optional equipment and controls, the AquaJet can be used for water-filling, maintaining desired water level, and aeration. The water drainage pipes are not used in this scenario.

Comprehensive Audience Appeal

the benefits of the system

ten years in the making

After multiple prototypes, the Honeycomb Garden System evolved into a shape borrowed from the hexagon, which in turn led to trapazoid-shaped containers which allow for space-efficient  configurations.

  • Born of a desire to travel frequently while also maintaining a healthy garden at home.
  • The inability to garden on knees
  • A desire to stop feeding every rabbit and groundhog in the area
  • A responsibility to stop wasting water
  • A preference to eliminate dangerous herbisides and insecticides
  • A need to know what my garden soil consists of

money saver

This grocery bag of organic produce harvested once or twice a week (depending on your garden size) contains: 5 tomatoes, 4 squash, 3 zucchini, 2 lb. green beans, 2 eggplant, 5 green peppers, 5 cucumbers, 1 lb. kale, 1/2 lb. basil, 2 lb. green chili peppers, 1 lb. spinach, 1 bunch of bok choy.

Graphic-01

Fresh food is often shipped thousands of miles before reaching the consumer. Up to 25% of food is lost to spoilage during travel.

efficiency

Saves Money

Growing your own organic quality food eliminates the need to shop for produce at box stores.

Understanding Production

As a family activity, gardening leads to an understanding of organic production while conserving resources.

Serves Multiple Purposes

An organic garden yielding quality food for consumption while also turning an everyday garden into an outdoor family room. With soil and hydroponic gardening flexibility, the Honeycomb Garden System offers versatility and technology.

The Newest Technology

A smartphone app links a hydrometer, timer, temperature gauge, camera, and an alarm for easy monitoring and control from anywhere.

35% of U.S. households participate in food gardening (2013, Nat. Gardening Assoc.), a 17% increase since 2008. Of those households, 9 million are urban gardeners (2013, Nat. Gardening Assoc.)

globally-minded

Serving Masses

Versatility in size and shape allows gardeners to grow fresh food in manageable quantities that match their needs.

Serving Areas with Limited Water

The sub-irrigation system reduces evaporation thereby minimizing the amount of water needed to sustain the garden, also enabling communities with limited water to grow fresh produce.

Aiding in Food Supply

With the global food supply in trouble (rise in population = greater demand for food. More people, more money, more consumption) communities can feel the benefit of “doing their part.” Feeding the world begins at home.

Up to 87% of the available fresh water supply is used for agriculture yet most traditional garden watering systems are losing 60-75% of water due to evaporation.

sustainability

Water Conservation

Reducing water usage by 80% with the Aqua Jet subsurface irrigation system. Evaporation is eliminated when the water has no exposure to air or sunlight – liquid fertilizer can be added through the same system.

Self-Watering

A timer allows watering in regular small amounts with water sourced from a hose bib. A hydrometer measures the perfect moisture.

Product Longevity

The planter will not rot or decompose over time like wood, resulting in a maintenance free product.

More Growing Time

An optional “Green House” lid allows for early spring seed starting, eliminating costly store-bought plants. It also allows late season protection of many plants. Garden covers protect the soil from wind-blown weed seeds.

Planned Accessories

Plant supports, bird netting, sunscreens, greenhouse and after season covers, greenhouse ventilation, seed blankets, electronic scarecrow, smart phone app linking hydrometer, timer, temperature gauge, garden camera, and full-size shade canopy are some of the accessories.
